“Where is the book in which the teacher can read about what teaching is? The children themselves are this book. We should not learn to teach out of any book other than the one lying open before us and consisting of the children themselves.”
Bambujaya is a private, bilingual, Khmer and English speaking school in the centre of Siem Reap, supported by a warm and welcoming community of families.
Founded in 2018, we provide child-led and project based education inspired by the Waldorf-Steiner approach in a unique, natural environment for early childhood and lower school learners. In the coming years we will expand to include middle school and high school learners.
We teach a hands-on, integrated Waldorf-inspired curriculum that is developmentally appropriate and grounded in artistic and practical activities. We strive to create an optimal environment where children develop intellectual curiosity, social sensitivity and physical stamina.
Together with our learners we explore the beauty, possibility and resilience of the human spirit, bestowing upon them the tools to become thoughtful, clear-thinking adults, who are courageous and socially responsible.
We provide a safe and inclusive learning environment using natural aesthetics. The children become aware and experience that practical life skills such as weaving, woodwork and clay modelling, are both useful and creative.
We rely on the commitment of all community members to build lasting collaborative relationships, using open, clear and direct communication.
